Natalie Baillargeon is a senior at Smith College, majoring in Environmental Science and Policy. Concurrently, she is working at Woodwell Climate Research Center as the External Affairs Coordinator, where she maintains partnerships and works on domestic and international climate policy outreach. In her research, she works to understand how ecological systems are influenced by distributions, such as land-use changes and climate change. Most notably, she has worked on an almost three-year project, investigating how Arctic tundra fires affect vegetation composition/nutrients. She plans to pursue a career in environmental policy and ecological management; she is specifically interested in understanding how climate change will change our socio-ecological systems and how we can prepare for and mitigate climate-induced hazards, particularly for historically disadvantaged communities.
