Dr. Monica Miller-Smith is a thought leader in forms of communication, human development, inclusion frameworks, environment & sustainability, and business strategy. Having background in academia, management consulting, corporate event production, social impact initiatives, and in nonprofit organizations, Monica has mastered a dynamic and diverse set of skills. She continuously leads impactful work, executes challenging projects, and develops successful teams.
As the Executive Director of Coral Bay Community Council, Monica provides overall management and environmental expertise to CBCC’s team as they complete grants and community projects. Projects focus on watershed management, drinking water and wastewater treatment, water quality monitoring, environmental analysis, coastal resilience, historical and cultural preservation, STEM education, and community advocacy.
Previously, Monica has curated corporate convenings that have been attended by C-Suite Executives, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senior Executives, and Global Directors from companies like Indeed, Amazon, UPS, Mailchimp, and Ralph Lauren. Monica’s leadership events have been the rooms where diverse leaders from a cross-section of industries come together to explore global workplace trends, leverage collective wisdom and expertise, and enrich their leadership skills. Additionally, she has designed and facilitated corporate trainings for Board Members, Executive Teams, Management Teams, and enterprise-wide groups from Fortune 500 companies such as CVS Health, Home Depot, and The Coca-Cola Company.
In 2020, Monica’s first textbook, Families and Children Living in Poverty, was published. The book explores the factors that contribute to the existence of poverty, as well as the social, developmental, and environmental ramifications of poverty. She has also presented at national and international conferences on civic engagement, economic inequality, and experiential learning.
