We're thrilled to announce an exciting project that will bring the BWEEMS story to the screen! The upcoming Durham conference marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for BWEEMS. Over the next year, a documentary film crew will follow our community, telling the story of our organization through the voices and experiences of our members. This special project is being produced by BWEEMS member and former Board of Directors member, Anjali D. Boyd.
About the Documentary
The documentary is designed to celebrate the power of community and connection in science, showcasing the full, multifaceted lives of Black women in ecology, evolution, and marine science. A professional camera and production crew will be on-site throughout the conference, capturing the magic of our community coming together. Over the following year, the documentary team will continue to follow the BWEEMS community, highlighting both groundbreaking research and the vital relationships that make our organization unique.
Through this project, we aim to explore the authentic stories of scientists and their work, while celebrating the joy, brilliance, and sisterhood that defines BWEEMS. This documentary intends to serve as a testament to the power of community in advancing scientific discovery.
