Workshop facilitators:
Danni Washington is a renowned television host and science communicator. She is the first African-American woman to host a nationally broadcast, syndicated science television series and currently hosts The Genius Generation podcast. Danni also served as a correspondent on CBS’s Mission Unstoppable and host of Xploration Nature Knows Best on FOX. One of Danni’s main focuses is educating youth on the importance of ocean conservation, STEM innovation, and environmentalism. Danni loves connecting people to the ocean and inspiring action to protect our blue planet.
Dr. Jeanette Davis is a Marine Microbiologist, ocean policy advisor and author of the best-selling children’s book Science is Everywhere, Science is for Everyone created to explore and diversify science. She’s a proud native of Delaware and her Ph.D. research focused on bacterial symbiosis to find new medicines from the ocean. She is cited in Science for helping to discover a marine bacterium that fights cancer. Dr. Davis attributes her success to be an ocean advocate and travels around the world to speak on genetic tools to manage ocean resources.
